I have been using design essentials products for a little over a year and my hair has been really healthy since, growing at a steady rate and finding a good balance of needed moisture. I have really coily hair, likely 4C. I've only used the almond & avocado line since that was what my stylist first used when I cut and colored my hair blonde. I primarily wear my hair in twist outs - after washing my hair with the shampoo either once weekly or biweekly, I use water, mouse, and leave-in conditioner (all almond & avocado products) to do either two or three string twists. I leave the twists in for a few days up to a week and then untwist and style my hair to my liking using more of the leave-in conditioner. I then continue to use the leave-in daily while my twists are out and until my next wash. I like the smell of the products and the leave-in and mousse can be a bit heavyweight but I don't mind. Love the definition of my curls and how moisturized my hair remains. Also, love that I get to support a Black-owned business! I would recommend giving these products a try! My husband uses the leave-in as well and usually wears his hair as a fro with tapered sides, sometimes sponging the top of his hair to enhance his curls. He primarily uses this product for moisture. :)

Comparison to Rosemary & Mint Conditioner

I used to use the Protective Style Maintenance Pack but switched to this Almond & Avocado conditioner looking for something not so overwhelmingly mint-scented, though I do miss the tingling. I have low porosity, average density, very fine, 4a hair and use the two shampoos and the conditioner in the shower every week. The performance is about the same as the Rosemary & Mint conditioner, though I have to leave the Almond & Avocado one on a few minutes longer - less than 10 minutes though. I rated it 4/5 because while it does moisturize, I still need to deep condition with a different product overnight after showering and then do two more leave-in conditioners the next morning before my hair feels strong and moisture-sealed. Perhaps if I didn't clarify weekly I wouldn't have to deep condition in addition to the Almond & Avocado conditioner, but I get product build-up very easily because my strands are so fine and the Honey Creme shampoo alone doesn't get enough of it off.

I'm a 50yo Caucasian with wavy medium thickness hair. This shampoo and conditioner work well for my hair leaving it soft with defined waves as long as I don't scruff towel dry my hair but squeeze and blot it dry with a towel instead. I still have frizzies and need a product for my unruly hair.\n\nIt does AMAZING on my half Asian Indian daughter's curly hair. Her curls are more defined, less frizzy and even shine. Her strands are medium thickness and she's got a lot of hair. This is the best shampoo and conditioner she's used yet. The conditioner definitely makes a difference. She doesn't need anything else for her hair to look good. \n\nThe scent can linger heavily and it's lovely, as in feminine, in my opinion. I like it and my daughter gets compliments but if my husband still had hair, I might buy him something different. \n\nI wish they'd either offer a pump or package it in softer, easier to squeeze bottles. It's hard to get out of the bottle.

My family has been using this shampoo for well over a decade. It is moisturizing and detangling. It suds more than any shampoo I have ever used, but it is not the most cleansing. It can leave residue. My mom's hair is high porosity so she can use this to clean her hair by shampooing twice. I have medium porosity and get build up and hard frizzy hair if my hair isn't clean (but still softened), so I use it as a second shampoo, and my hair comes out soft, clumped and black. Hair in my household ranges from African American dry 3b-4b. I have the coiliest hair. Hopefully, this helps clarify why the shampoo works well for some but not others.

I am REALLY surprised this has such low reviews here. I suspect it's probably from people with different hair types that may not know how to pair this well with other products. I have really thick, low porosity 3B hair with some 3C in there due to my Black and Filipino genes. My curly hair specialist recommended this Almond Avocado line from DE a few years back and it has been my holy grail ever since. Pair this with the curl cream and some oil (heavy or light depending on your hair type) with a deep conditioner once a week and this line will legitimately revolutionalize your curl pattern and texture. Cannot recommend enough :')!

I took a chance on purchasing this product due to it being moisturizing and detangling shampoo. It delivers exactly that. The slip is perfect. I usually finger detangle during my shampoo process because it makes my hair so soft and manageable. The conditioner just adds the cherry on the top. I ran out of shampoo, ended up purchasing another brand that claimed it was moisturizing and detangling. My hair was stiff after the 2nd was. Thankfully, I had the Design Essential conditioner left. It instantly softened my hair. I went the next day and purchased the 32oz shampoo. Im sold for life!!

The Almond and Avocado is perfect for curly hair. I love it to my core. It keeps the hair silky soft. My hair immediately responded to the the moisturizing shampoo. I was impressed with the product because I learned of its existence from my sister. Once I used it from her I definitely looked it out and bought all the products in this line especially more than enough of the shampoo. This product is Aaaaaaamazing! You won’t regret it. This shampoo is like none of the moisturizing shampoos I’ve seen! Great consistency, great moisturizing agents and smells so good.

My beautician used your products on my hair for the first time and I fell in love with the perfume, the lightness and the softness and the effect your products had on my hair. I immediately starting searching for the products in local beauty supply stores and eventually ordered online. I found the prices elevated in the store but online there's the shipping cost, even purchasing over $100 worth of products and you wait for the delivery so in the end, it doesn't make sense to order online. The product definitely works for me!

This leave in conditioner is a great prep for styling. It is lightweight and glides on easily. It helps to keep hair moisturized and enhances your curl definition when applied before your styler(I use the almond and avocado curling custard or defining creme gel). I have 4b hair and my curls last about a week. All you need is a little Almond and Avocado Daily Revitalizer spray each day and your curls are reactivated. These products work excellently on my hair type and I highly recommend them.

I mainly use Almond & Avocado Detangling Leave-In Conditioner on my chemical free clients. It is a must have for any type of natural hair. It immediately softens the hair and cuts the detangling process in half. The product is very lightweight. Ensuring when you add any Design Essential curling product of your choice, the finish will be flawless. It can also be used alone. Whatever way I choose to use it always results in beautiful healthy looking hair.

My son has 3b low porosity hair so I’m very picky on what I put in his hair but I had seen this at the hair store and read through the ingredients and decided to try it and I am soooo glad i did , it prevents frizz, maintains his curls and makes his hair so silky. I swear by almost all their products even on my wavy hair but if you get any of the design essential products make this the one ! You won’t regret it

I have coarse, dry 3a Italian hair that I would say is low porosity. My hair takes forever to air dry and products often coat my hair rather than deeply penetrating and hydrating my hair. \n\nIn the 3 times I used this leave-in, I was in LOVE with how soft my hair felt. I haven't had such soft hair in a longgggg time (I'm trying out numerous products to nail down a routine).\n\nSo it disappoints me that I have only used this 3 times. The reason why is the smell. Someone else said that this product smells like kitty litter and I have to agree wholeheartedly. This smells like synthetic florals and almonds. \n\nIf Design Essentials redid the fragrance of this leave-in, maybe making it nuttier, I would hoard so many bottles of this. I'm currently trying out the Cecred Moisture Seal Lotion as an alternative. Albeit an expensive alertnative 🥲

There is a reason why this set is always sold out. I literally felt like my hair felt like silk when I rinsed this out of my hair. Also, I was use to pumping a lot of product into my hand to wash/condition my hair...not with this. This product literally only needs 1 no more than 2 pumps and you will get a great lather. I'm relaxed and my sister is natural and we both are hooked! It is ahhhmazing!!

The best shanpoo and conditioner I have used in a really long time! The shampoo had such a good lather even on the first wash. Ive never used a shampoo that lathered that well before and that didnt leave my hair in a big tangled mess. You could detangle with this shampoo its amazing. Hair didnt feel stripped but felt very clean. The conditioner has really good slip as well. Highly recommend.

Honestly this made my hair smell so good, feel super soft, and I used it as a deep conditioner about 30 minutes before I washed my hair and it really cut down on detangling time. I will most definitely me using this product again 10/10 would recommend. I've been using this for about a month after switching from using Pantene and I don't see myself going back.

I love this shampoo!!! It leaves my hair soft and clean. A small amount is all that is needed to create a great lather. When in a hurry, it's great for a wash and go because no conditioner is needed to make my hair manageable. I just wash, rinse, and apply the Almond and Avocado mousse and go. And the smell isn't over powering with a strong perfume smell.

I love this leave in conditioner! I saturate my untwisted roots and it leave my hair so soft and manageable! I had postpartum hair loss around my temples and my hair is growing back. I haven't retwisted in a months. I'm just letting my hair grow and will start retwisting again in May. Until then it's just me, my design essentials, and my new growth hunny

This is my holy grail product from the Design Essentials Almond and Avocado natural hair product line! My natural curls feel great and are so healthy, shiny, and moisturized with this great leave in conditioner. Its so easy to apply the leave in conditioner to my natural hair. My scalp feels great and my hair responds quickly to this new layer or moisture.

if you have 4c low porosity hair, please please please buy it. It's so good, and I love it. It's very light and it is water based. It doesn't leave conditioner residue, my hair literally absorbs everything. My scalp used to be very dry, and couldn't absorb most conditioners (Shea Butter, Camilla Rose, Mielle,ect.) I love it so much! Don't walk, run!

My stylist gave me a free sample to try and I was addicted. While sitting under the dryer I ordered the products. Shipping took all of 2 days. Thick, rick, creamy product that not only leaves my hair smelling amazing but hydrated as well. Another magnificent part is significantly less time combing out my hair. This product is such a time saver.

I am enjoying this leave-in conditioner. It's smooth and doesn't add weight to my hair but it helps keep my natural hair in place and in good condition. I wash my hair weekly so it's great to have a really good leave-in conditioner. I will sometimes wet my hair and add a bit to it during the week for a refresh. I am pleased with my purchase

I love how moisturizing the conditioner is and how easy it made detangling my thick 4c hair. My only issue is that it's very difficult to get the conditioner out of the bottle. I had to u screw the top and stick something inside help it come out because it's so thick and the bottle itself is impossible to squeeze.

I love this product. I have very dry hair and this shampoo doesn't strip my hair at all like some other sulfate free shampoos do. My hair feels moisturized and but still clean. This stuff just melts away any tangles that I have. \n\nI have just finished my 4th bottle of this. Even if I try out other shampoos, I always come back to this.

I use their products religiously but i would say over time i realized this was the one product making my natural curl patturn show. I use this with the moose but have seen the moose kind of munipulate my curls which left them beautiful nonetheless but showering & only applying this leave in had my curls 10x better & tighter.

Pretty good conditioner but doesn't have enough “slip” for me to detangle my fine, super curly hair. Am using as a cleansing conditioner instead. Unfortunately I won't buy this again but hopefully there's something else from Design Essentials that has more slip as they're an excellent brand.

I have not been able to use any other shampoo since switching to this. Nothing else cleanses well enough without drying out my hair. This keeps my hair moisturized, cleanses great, and helps with tangles to make the process easier. I even got my husband to switch to this shampoo. Also, smells great!

I’ve been using Design Essentials Almond & Avacado line for the past year and it has really made my curls pop! I hadn’t been able to find a product that keeps my curls properly moisturized so that they won’t look dull. However, this products does just that. I highly recommend for type 3C hair.

It does EXACTLY what is says! Wonderful detangler and shampoo with real moisture! I noticed a difference immediately after using this shampoo and so did a total stranger! I was running late so only had time to shampoo my hair, and a woman complimented me on how moisturized my hair appeared.
